The Connecticut Tech Act Project is sponsoring Total Technology 2000, an Assistive Technology Trade Fair, on Tuesday, October 17, 2000. Our committee has been offered the opportunity to set up a booth at the fair.
CMAC Web Site Accessibility Committee minutes for Monday, May 15, 2000, 2 p.m., Office of Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities, 60B Weston Street, Hartford, Connecticut.
Attendees:
CMAC Web Site Accessibility Policy Draft Version 4.0 - it was agreed that the committee was satisfied with the revisions and is ready to send it out to the CMAC membership for discussion and approval. It will be sent out with a 10 day comment period.
July CMAC meeting - the Committee will request that the July CMAC meeting be moved from July 27th to July 26th, and the agenda include events in honor of the 10th anniversary of the signing into law of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The logo has been approved by the Committee; Kathleen will find out the procedure for having the logo service marked to protect it from unauthorized use.
Kathleen passed out code snippets to give an example of a DOCTYPE and code to refer a web page automatically to the W3C HTML validator page.

Anita Cox handed out a Web Page Accessibility Checklist from the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division.
The Committee worked on revising the Universal Web Site Accessibility Policy for State Web Sites - Version 3.1 The draft version can be found at: http://www.cmac.state.ct.us/access/policies/revaccess.html

The Committee set a goal of completing the following three tasks for a presentation at the July 2000 Connect Management Advisory Committee meeting:
proposed revision of the State of Connecticut Universal Web Site Accessibility Policy
development of a checklist that can be used by state agencies to evaluate the accessibility of their web sites; the checklist will included automated tools and manual evaluations such as those listed on our Resource page
design of a logo that can be used on State Government web sites to indicate that it complies with the State's policy.
Committee members are asked to download the current version of the State of Connecticut Universal Web Site Accessibility Policy from: http://www.state.ct.us/cmac/statpoli.htm#UNIVERSAL and bring your proposed changes to the March, 2000 meeting. The current version of the policy is numbered 3.1; the proposed version will be numbered [draft] 3.2; the final version approved by CMAC will be version [final] 4; and the proposed logo will indicate compliance with [final] 4 by having the number '4' as part of the graphic and alt text.
